A film is an idea... If my recent films failed toimpress people, it means my experiment didn���t work. There are many factorsthat influence the making of a film.The Factory takes up many projects.It���s difficult to control everything and to predict the result. Once theball starts rolling, you can���t stop it. You know you���ve made amistake, but it���s too late.
I wasn���t playing safe withSarkar Raj... I was staying true to the subject, which needed a certaintreatment.
My actors are my characters... While Sarkar Raj needed aheavy star cast, Contract needed new faces. The characters intrigue me, not thegenre or actors. As a director, I know my characters and by the time I go for ashoot, there are no surprises on the sets. Newcomers just have to prepare a lotmore, that���s all.
That���s why I chose Sudeep forPhoonk... I���d met him a couple of times and watched his Autograph.There���s a certain presence about him that caught my attention and he fitsthe character perfectly. He gave me much more than I���d expected.
Yes,I am remaking Aag... I remade Sholay and it became Aag. If I remake Aag, it maybecome Sholay. I���m like the spider that persists or like the dog���stail that can���t be straightened.
I don���t worry, Ithink... I���m too busy making films to worry about negative criticism. Bythe time one film���s out, I���m making another, so there���s notime to feel success or failure. We are all human beings and I���m a strangespecimen: I exist. You have the choice of not seeing my films and not talkingabout me.
I���m a Bollywood rogue... and want to be left alone. Ihave no social life or associations. I use people for my selfish reasons anddon���t feel the need to confide in anyone. To hate someone is as worthlessas loving someone. I could use this time to make films.
Aishwarya is awrong example for my taste in women... She could have well been a man. I likethe idea of a woman. Sexuality isn���t about the body, but about theattitude. I like intelligence, and if it comes with a good butt, I like thattoo.
